Arnold E. Ewell, who was elected to his first term in the House of Delegates in 1899, is photographed with his sisters Mary (left), Nora, and Alexina. Ewell operated a large farm on the western shore of the Lynnhaven River and maintained an active interest in county Democratic politics. During the 1920s, he served two more terms in the General Assembly followed by four years on the Board of Supervisors.
